R Blake Miller
Art Appraisal & Consulting
I grew up working in the Houston Museum District, studied art history at Lesley University in Cambridge, and served as a docent at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, before moving to New York.
Once in New York full time, I interned in the office of Whitney Museum Director Adam Weinberg, and later earned an MA in Art & Public Policy at NYU. I studied under Karen Finley and served as a graduate researcher at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I then worked to produce major art fairs, curated public and private exhibitions of my own, published writing on artists, handled high-value international art logistics, and produced comprehensive catalogues for artists and private clients. Today, as Founder of NY Art Appraisal, I provide a range of services to individuals and organizations.
My cousin Dorothy Blau was a Pop Art dealer, and my grandfather Fred Winchell a portrait photographer. Both were known for creating lasting relationships with their clients, and sharing their professional resources within the art world.
