Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFAB): Elevating Visitor Experience and Supporting Major Exhibitions

At the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, I managed the Scharf Visitor Center and led a team of dedicated volunteers, providing tours and engaging directly with visitors. What began as a work-study role quickly grew into a cornerstone of my career, allowing me to develop expertise in visitor engagement and program management while studying Art History nearby in Cambridge.

One of my significant contributions was supporting the opening of the museum’s Art of the Americas wing, which debuted with an exhibition of Dale Chihuly’s iconic glass installations. In this role, I collaborated with the Visitor Services team to ensure a seamless and impactful experience for the museum’s donors, school groups, and special guests. I also provided tours to key supporters, sharing insights into the collection and enhancing their connection with the museum’s new wing.

Working closely with the exhibition launch taught me how institutions partner with renowned studios to produce touring exhibitions and raise funds around blockbuster events. Inspired by this experience, I even based my undergraduate thesis on Chihuly’s work, exploring how institutions design exhibitions to captivate and expand their audiences.
