Independent Art Fair: Building a Comprehensive VIP Relations Program

I initially joined the Independent Art Fair as Front of House Manager, also responsible for recruiting and managing a skilled team of 50 Sotheby’s student interns. Drawing on my background in museum guest services, I oversaw visitor flow, material distribution, and maintaining the efficient flow of front-of-house operations at Spring Studios—a venue renowned for its large-scale, immersive exhibitions.

Following this success, Independent invited me back to rejoin its legacy as VIP Manager for the launch of Independent 20th Century, held at Casa Cipriani. My role expanded to developing a sophisticated VIP relations program tailored to complement the prestigious galleries exhibiting at the fair.

To prepare this early post-pandemic VIP program, I resurrected strategic partnerships by conducting an outreach campaign to local museums, cultural foundations, and private collections throughout New York City. This program offered VIP guests exclusive tours and reciprocal access, providing a rich, cohesive cultural experience that extended beyond the fair. Aligning Independent’s offerings with New York’s broader arts scene added significant value for clients and fostered deeper connections within the art community.

The resulting program received acclaim in leading art publications, positioning Independent Art Fair as a pioneer in providing localized, culturally immersive VIP experiences for an elite audience of art world professionals, a distinguishing element of this prestigious fair.
