John Alexander Studios: Cataloging, Digitization, and Client Relations for a Comprehensive Art Archive

For John Alexander, I provided an all-encompassing digitization and cataloging service, converting the renowned artist’s extensive slide library and sales records into a fully searchable, digital archive. My work involved carefully scanning and cataloging each image, typing out the artist’s sales records, and building a detailed catalogue raisonné using the Artlogic system.

Working directly with the artist also involved a level of personal assistance and support that extended beyond database creation, giving me unique insights into the interworkings of a professional studio. I collaborated with the galleries representing Alexander to secure artwork details and high-quality images, enhancing accessibility to his portfolio from both his home and Amagansett studio. Additionally, I developed a new website that connected clients, collectors, and galleries worldwide to his works.

This project underscored my proficiency in digital archiving, database management, and the relational dynamics essential to supporting an artist’s studio.
