Mondo Muff Polaroids
1973 – 1983

Mondo Muff was the alias of a photographer and journalist who used the Polaroid format to capture spontaneous, sexually charged encounters between friends and strangers, primarily throughout the 1970s and into the early 1980s. Mondo was immersed in the Studio 54 and after-hours scene in New York, creating an intimate visual record of the city’s nightlife and its characters. The living archive numbers in the thousands, though many were given away as souvenirs to his willing subjects at the time they were taken.

In 2014, Mondo and R Blake Miller collaborated to produce a carefully edited selection of their 475 personal favorite images: Mondo Muff (Volume I).
